There was no religion, which allowed them equality and furthermore women were not given any right in the inheritance of family wealth. In the Arab culture women were more treated as slaves an something look down upon and from authentic sources girl babies were buried alive. With the arrival of Islam it gave women rights which were unparalleled in the history of mankind. Women were given rights in inheritance and the right to divorce or separate from their husband. Further the concept of veil and hijab was introduced to give women dignity and not just some low cheap property of man to fulfil his desires.
